The wind we most often use is a super steady, no gusts, in the 13knots to 16knots average and side-onshore which makes it SUPER SAFE and the highest quality both to learn and to try and develop new tricks.
Are you a total beginner? No problem at all!! You can expect us to adjust and adapt our kite lessons and teaching strateggies to your learning speed and style.
So, before you think you are too old for this adventure, let us tell you that our more senior student is 75 years old! Imagine how good it looks for a 70 years old person to wear a wetsuit! It makes us all 10 years younger, at least.
We advise you to bring: bathing suit, shorts, lycra or tshirt, sunscreen, a towel, water and a snack.
We will do our best because we do not do it for less than that. You are the reason we keep pushing through our best learning options. That is why we use radios to maintain an effective comunication with students at all times.
Why do we have the best wind in the Algarve in Tavira?
In the Sotavento region of the Algarve, and particularly around Tavira, the best wind conditions for learning and practicing kitesurfing in the Algarve can be found. During most of spring and summer, the wind typically blows between 12 and 16 knots from the southwest (SW), a side-on-shore direction coming from the sea to the coast, which is also ideal in terms of safety. Coming directly from the ocean, the wind arrives very clean, stable, and almost without gusts (as long as there are no clouds), since it doesn’t encounter obstacles like mountains, buildings, or uneven terrain. The Sotavento Algarve benefits from this maritime breeze dynamic, which usually shifts to southwest around midday, gradually increasing in intensity until near sunset, maintaining moderate and predictable conditions.
In many areas of the Barlavento Algarve, however, the predominant wind is from the northwest (NW), blowing from land to sea and passing over the Serra de Monchique before reaching the coast. This path over the terrain creates turbulence, gusts, and variations in intensity, making the wind very inconsistent and sometimes even dangerous for kitesurfers. For this reason, the coast of Tavira and the islands of the Ria Formosa is considered one of the safest and most consistent spots for practicing and learning this sport.
We use radios for an effective comunication with you during the lesson.
Our 300m area for teaching kitesurf in Cabanas de Tavira Island in the sea side, ensures a safe environment for everybody and that will make you feel safer and more relaxed about the risks. We teach accordingly to IKO and FPVela and we ONLY do PRIVATE lessons (beginners or advanced) or SEMI-PRIVATE lessons. We believe that excellence in teaching any level comes with focus and personnal coaching not groups or mass lessons.

If you are 60years old or more or if you know someone that fits the adjective BRAVE, share this with them. Sandra, our most experienced instructor and responsible for the deam “Eolis” will be teaching the BRAVE 60+. The pack is a set of 9 private lessons of 2hours each (18h in total) with the offer of our E.Book “Safety in Kitesurf”. All this at an extremely competitive price. Wetsuit, harness, leash, helmet and insurances are mandatory and included in the lessons.
For the KiteFoil Lessons, bring your kite we will have the board.
If you are a grand-parent and would love to enjoy a kite flying experience with your grand-child, we have a 2,5m2 and a 6m2 availlable for you. Let’s create some nice and healthy memories in the East Algarve!
To get to our spot on the beach in Cabanas Island (sea-side) you should get to the boats to go across to the island (close to our shot/office) and then in the island, walk towards the East (left facing the sea).
On the beach there are no cash machines so you can pay per MBWAY, REVOLUT or cash.

Yes, otherwise we cannot guarantee we will have a place for you. - Do I need to fill out any documents to register?
Yes, you must complete our registration form which assures us that all health and risk issues are known and understood. - Where do I go to clarify any doubts about the classes?
The best thing to do is always call first to avoid any misunderstandings. In any case, you can go to our office/shop in Cabanas de Tavira, Algarve. - Where are the theoretical and practical classes?
Classes always take place in Cabanas de Tavira, normally in our 300m zone for Kitesurfing teaching, on the Island of Cabanas de Tavira. - How many lessons are needed to navigate the first few meters on the board?
Normally, the average person with no previous experience in board sports needs 3 to 5 lessons to try their first surfing. - In the first class, do I go straight into the water and onto the board?
If you have never had any type of Kitesurfing experience, in the first lesson the class will normally be on land, to learn a little theory on how to assess the safety conditions of the practice location (spot), understand how to assemble the equipment and get a feel for how to control the wing (wind window, give/take away power, change tack) so that in a second class we can progress to exercises in the water (first without a board and then with a board).

J’ai eu l’occasion de prendre des cours de kitesurf à plusieurs reprises chez Eolis kitesurf.
La formation proposée est de qualité et les cours sont adaptés au niveau de chacun, tout cela dans la bonne humeur et avec beaucoup de pédagogie. Le matériel est de qualité et pleinement exploitable (renouvelé fréquemment). Les conseils vous permettront de progresser très vite et en toute sécurité.
